Hola Mexico

Year 6 were fortunate to have a visit from Clive Pig this week. Clive is a storyteller who tells stories about times in the past.
As part of our project, Hola Mexico, Clive told stories about the Maya; The Chocolate Tree and The Hero Twins amongst others. He engaged the pupils in role play and then encouraged them to share their acting.
They learned about some interesting beliefs such as having cross-eyes was considered beautiful so much so that parents would dangle a stone above their baby as they lay in their 'cot' so they would focus on it thus going cross-eyed!
It was also considered beautiful to have a sloping forehead, so a baby would ahve two pieces of wood tied to their head to encourage this growth.
'I loved the stories.'
''Clive was very entertaining.'
