Kate Greenaway

Year 6 looked at the illustrations in the book Night Shift for the Kate Greenaway Award. The illustrator used charcoal as her medium and said that a good place to start was just to have a go at using it and don’t worry about making mistakes. Ben had a go and it was a messy process!

Lucy had a go and ended up creating a very large dragon made up of smaller parts all pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle. The children had a go at drawing some of the pictures from the book. In the book Night Shift anxiety is depicted s a dragon, using charcoal pencils and crayons Amy, Josh and Ellis had a go at some more detailed drawings of different parts of dragons. Colette used sharpies, inks and glitter to show the dragons scales.
