Investigating Newts in Year 2

Year 2 have been closely following the progress of three newts which were found in a bucket in the shed at school. The children enjoyed finding out about whether they were an endangered newt (which they weren't) and caring for them until the females had laid their eggs. The children had a chance to hold the newts if they wished before releasing them into their natural habitat. "They are so small and precious" said Charleigh, and Willow is now researching about whether it is possible to keep a newt as a pet. We are caring for the eggs and await their hatching!
