Holy Trinity Church Visit

On Thursday 26th January, Years 5 and 6 visited Holy Trinity Church to learn about aspects of the Bible and, in particular, Jewish customs and beliefs.
They learned about The Torah, how it is written, looked after and read. The Torah scroll can't be touched by people so it is rolled out using two handles and a pointer, the Yad, is used to follow the text. Pupils had a go at blowing a shofar, usually a horn from a ram, but this was from a kudu. It was used to signal the start of a celebration and used when in battle. As well as this, pupils talked about the gifts from the Magi and touched and smelled frankincense and myrrh. It was an amazing session and thanks must go to Mrs Cambridge and her team for organising the event.
